SHAH ALAM, Nov 8 — The Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) contributed to the state’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic to be right on track, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said Selangor is the only state in the country that offered its immunisation programme with a total allocation of RM200 million.

He said the effort helped expedite the state’s recovery process and move Selangor into Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan.

“This year, while other states were still waiting for the vaccine distribution, the Selangor government had allocated RM200 million to run our immunisation programme and expedite the recovery process,” he said when speaking during the state’s civil servants assembly at Dewan Jubli Perak, here today.

A video montage which compiles all the programme’s involving the Menteri Besar from last year until now — mainly focusing on efforts in the fight against Covid-19 — was played during the assembly.

Selvax was launched in June with a total allocation of RM200 million, and the programme comprises Selvax Industry and Selvax Community.

Under Selvax Industry, some two million vaccine doses were provided for workers in Selangor, including foreigners, to curb the outbreak at workplaces.

As for Selvax Community, 250,000 residents have benefited from the programme, including senior citizens, the low-income group, and the Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat scheme recipients.

On October 7, Amirudin had announced that the programme would be expanded to the teenagers in Selangor, involving 150,000 vaccine doses after receiving permission from the Health Ministry.

The initiative complements the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK), which aims to inoculate as many individuals as possible.
