Exco: Special committee to facilitate post-flood aid operations in Hulu Langat

By Norrasyidah Arshad

HULU LANGAT, Dec 24 — The post-flood special committee in Hulu Langat will be the main communication channel for all parties, including volunteers, which would help streamline and ease the cleaning process.

State executive councillor for youth development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the efforts would also help in disbursing assistance fairly to the flood victims.

“We understand that many want to help, so we will distribute the aid based on the needs of the victims so that the process would run smoothly. Those who want to help, come and see us so you won’t be wandering around.

“We want (good) communication, ease the task of distribution and ensure that none of the victims is left out,” he said when met at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Serai temporary relief centre here, yesterday.

Mohd Khairuddin, who heads the committee, said that the move would also prevent crowdedness in the affected areas which could disrupt the cleaning process.

“When there are too many people, it would be difficult for the Roro (Roll On Roll Off) bins to access the area. Therefore, we ask the volunteers to corporate with us so things would run smoothly,” he said.

Earlier, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced the setting up of the committee to streamline the post-flood operations in Hulu Langat.

The Menteri Besar had also revealed a RM2 million allocation under Selangor Bangkit to rebuild the flood-hit area in the district.
