GOMBAK, Dec 31 — Flood victims at Jalan Bachang Tanah Gantian in Sungai Tua are grateful for the swift disbursement of cash aid under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit programme that has helped reduce their burdens.

A home-maker Darni Che Mat, 55, said the cash aid of RM1,000 could be used to repair her house and buy daily necessities.

“The flooding has really affected me as I recently had to take charge of the household after my husband passed away on November 26 due to a heart attack.

“When the village head informed us that flood victims would receive cash money, I am grateful as I do not have to wait that long to get the money which could be used to buy new furniture,” she told SelangorKini.

Meanwhile, a trader Mohd Mahrami Hanafi, 47, was thankful the state government had expedited the disbursement of the cash aid as he could use it to buy new school supplies for his children.

“Insya Allah (God willing), the money will also be used to buy other important items needed to repair my house,” he said.

On December 21, the Selangor government allocated RM100 million in funds under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit initiative, following the flood incident two weeks ago.

Apart from infrastructural recovery, the initiative also covers cash aid of RM10,000 to the families of flood victims who perished in the incident.

The RM1,000 cash aid also will be distributed to the heads of families to help restore their homes and cover damages.

Eligible recipients include flood victims who were relocated to the registered temporary relief centres (PPS), private PPS and those who remained at home.

Previously, Amirudin expected the disbursement of cash aid will be completed by the end of January 2022.
