Low-income households among those encouraged to apply for free water scheme

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, Dec 2 — The Air Darul Ehsan Scheme (Sade) has been intensified so as to encourage the public to register and obtain the benefit of free water, said state executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim.

This follows after it was revealed that only 46 per cent or 287,181 recipients are enjoying Sade as of October 31, compared to the original target of 620,000 people.

“Actually the programme to encourage the registration of the people has been running all throughout the year, and has been extended to next year. But we are puzzled at the number of registrations.

“We will increase the promotion effort (for Sade) to encourage more to register for the programme,” he said during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.

Izham was responding to an additional query from Sijangkang assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi, concerning the scheme’s number of recipients.

Sade is a free water supply realignment program, aimed at households earning RM4,000 and below. Those who qualify for registration may do so at https://ssipr-daftar.selangor.gov.my/register.
