State govt extends condolences to family members of eight flood victims

SHAH ALAM, Dec 21 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on behalf of the Selangor government has offered condolences to the family and next-of-kin of eight victims who succumbed to floods.

“May their souls be blessed,” he said on Twitter, last night.

Citing a news report from Bernama, Selangor police chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said floods that hit various districts in Selangor have claimed eight lives so far with four victims in Shah Alam, Kajang (three) and Sungai Buloh (one).

He said the floods incidents have also affected four police stations and houses under the Selangor contingent involving some 3,330 policemen and police officers.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Norazam Khamis said a man’s body was found on Saturday while two other bodies were found in Taman Sri Muda two days ago.

“All three bodies were found drowned in floods while a body of a woman believed to be an Indonesian national, was also found trapped on the upper floor of a house in the Taman Sri Muda area on Sunday,” he said.

He added that two more men’s bodies were found in Dengkil yesterday and a lorry driver was found drowned due to floods in Desa Coalfields, Kuala Selangor two days ago.
