State reps, local authorities, volunteers, shoulder burdens to help flood victims

SHAH ALAM, Dec 20 — State representatives, local authorities, and volunteers have joined hands in providing assistance to residents affected by the severe floods since yesterday.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the assistance given includes the distribution of food packs and basic necessities to all temporary relief centres (PPS) in Selangor.

“Apart from government agencies and local councils, the Selangor Lestari volunteers from Team Selangor and Selangor Volunteer (Serve) also helped in distributing food and basic necessities to all PPS housing flood victims,” ​​he said on Facebook today.

In a Facebook post yesterday, Batu Tiga assemblyman Rodziah Ismail was seen distributing personal hygiene packs to residents in Section 19, who returned to clean their homes after the flood had subsided.

“I call on volunteers who want to help to contact the Batu Tiga Constituency Service Centre at 014-3378764,” she said after checking on the situation of residents there.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Teng Chang Khim thanked all volunteers and donors who helped to provide for the needs of 3,000 flood victims at the four relief centres.

“Keep up the effort until all the victims return home safely,” said the Bandar Baru Klang assemblyman on Facebook.
