Tourism Selangor launches two-day global convention, sparks revitalisation in 2022

PETALING JAYA, Dec 10 — Tourism Selangor has launched the Tourism Selangor Global Convention 2021 (TSGC 2021) today, with the aim to reset the tourism industry on a global level.

The hybrid event, which takes place today and tomorrow at the New World Petaling Jaya Hotel, will highlight different topics to be discussed among the speakers.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had officiated the event this morning with some 300 guests attending the launching event.

He said the tourism industry was badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and has caused severe uncertainties to the industry players.

“The effort to reinvigorate tourism in a post-pandemic era is arduous but is a much-needed endeavour. 

“Tourism Selangor has shown tremendous courage and excellence thus far in taking up this responsibility,” he said during the launching event, here today.

Following the launch of TSGC 2021, a conference titled ‘Digital Tourism 4.0 and E-Commerce’ and ‘Innovation and Diversity in Tourism Business Survival’ are expected to take place today. 

The conference will continue tomorrow with other topics which are ‘Influencers in Tourism Destinations’, ‘Sports Tourism’, ‘Creative Tourism and the Film Industry’ & ‘C-Level Tourism Dialogue’.

Among the speakers involved in the topic discussion include Malaysia Shopping Malls Association (PPKM) president Tan Sri Teo Chiang Kok, Tiarasa Resorts and Enfiniti Xperiences owner and creator Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping, and representatives from Malaysian Airlines Berhad (MAB); Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC); ShopeePay Malaysia; Sunway Group; Animonsta Sdn Bhd; Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Arts (MOTAC); Malaysia Tourism Council (MTC) and Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB).
