SHAH ALAM, Jan 2 — State volunteer group Team Selangor expressed its appreciation of the efforts by Australian citizen David Taylor, who joined them to help out flood victims in Selangor.

Its chief secretariat Syahaizel Keman said despite Talyor’s age of 65 years, it proved to be no barrier for him in helping out, alongside his wife.

“Initially David’s wife followed the cleaning process at Padang Jawa. The following day, he came along and joined in the cleaning operations at Hulu Langat.

“I met him in Hulu Langat, where David told me he is very interested in volunteer work that requires much energy,” he told SelangorKini.

Syahaizel added that Team Selangor greatly values the time and energy put in, throughout the cleaning process in several affected localities.

“Not everyone is interested in volunteer work, since it requires high committment,” he said.

Individuals interested in joining Team Selangor as a volunteer can register at bit.ly/SkuadBencanaTeamSelangor, and any enquiries can be made by contacting 013-530 3578.

On December 18 last year, the state government mobilised volunteer groups including Team Selangor to aid in the process of relocating flood victims to temporary relief centres.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said at the time that volunteer teams also distributed early aid to victims.
