SHAH ALAM, Jan 29 — Three Selangor districts are among the locations expected to undergo thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds, as the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning that it will affect six states or territories this evening, and will last until 9pm.
For Selangor, these districts are Hulu Selangor, Gombak dan Hulu Langat. The Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory is also expected to undergo the same weather pattern.
“Thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds are predicted in Kedah (Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang, and Muallim)
“Other states include Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Raub, and Bentong), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, and Rembau), and Melaka,” it said in a statement.
MetMalaysia issues such warnings if signs are present indicating that thunderstorms with a rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour, or is expected to occur over a one-hour duration.
The thunderstorm warnings are short-term, with each warning valid within a six-hour window after being issued.
