SHAH ALAM, Jan 6 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and Klang Municipal Council (MPK) have successfully cleared the post-flood waste from 73.5 per cent of the 68 affected localities in Klang, as of yesterday.

Klang district officer Mohd Faizal Abd Raji said the progress in the remaining 18 localities includes 15 areas at 90 per cent, while three at 20 per cent.

“The Klang District Disaster Operations Room conducts daily monitoring and coordination to ensure the post-flood recovery process in districts can be completed within the stipulated period,” he said when met at the distribution of Bantuan Selangor Bangkit cash aid to flood victims at the Dewan MPKK Kampung Lombong here today.

Also present was Selangor Islamic Religious Affairs, Consumer Affairs, and Halal Industry Committee chairman Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, who is also Sungai Kandis assemblyman.

Mohd Faizal, who is also the Klang Disaster Committee chairman, added the Klang Health Office also conducts inspections and assessments on the risk of post-flood diseases.

“Examinations are done to identify the risk of diseases including dengue, leptospirosis, melioidosis, water-borne diseases, and Covid-19, so they can be prevented and controlled at the early stage,” he said.

The torrential rain from December 17 until December 19 resulted in double the rainfall compared to the previous high of 180 millimetres, causing severe flooding in several locations of Selangor.
