SHAH ALAM, Jan 19 — A total of 77 individuals, including 11 women, received their letters of appointment as chairman of the Village Community Management Council (MPKK) for the 2022-2023 term in Selangor yesterday.
Their appointment letters were presented by the state executive councillor for new village development Ng Sze Han during a ceremony at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) here.
Ng said 22 of them are new faces including two youths from Kampung Baru Gurney in Batang Kali and Kampung Baru Asam Kumbang in Kuala Kubu Bharu.
“Congratulations to all. You are now the Selangor government representatives entrusted to ensure developments in Kampung Baru, Kampung Bagan and Kampung Tersusun are in line with the state progress.
“MPKK can no longer be seen as a medium or channel for grassroots and authorities to resolve current issues but must also play its role as a driving force for social and economic development in the respective villages,” he said in his speech.
Ng also advised the newly appointed village heads to work responsibly and always refer to those with experience during their duty.
“I hope the village chiefs can speed up the appointment of MPKK bureaus by including youths so that work can be done faster with fresher ideas,” he said.
Meanwhile, seven village liaison officers were also appointed to serve for the 2022-2023 term during the same event.
