Selangor to experience heavy rain in April

SHAH ALAM, Feb 4 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecast Selangor to receive heavy rainfall of between 230 and 350 millimetres (mm) in April.

In a statement yesterday, the agency said in March the state will experience average rainfall of between 200 and 300 mm.

It also predicted average rainfall of between 110 and 250 mm to hit Selangor in February, May, June and July.

Based on its long-range weather outlook for February until July, MetMalaysia said this month most areas in the peninsula are expected to receive an average rainfall of between zero and 250 mm, while in March (100 and 350 mm) and April (50 and 400 mm).

It said in May, the Southwest Monsoon phase is forecast to affect the country’s weather with most areas in the peninsula are expected to receive an average rainfall of between 100 and 350 mm.

While Melaka, Pahang (Pekan and Rompin) and Johor will receive rainfall of between 50 mm and 200 mm.

In June and July, most states in the peninsula will receive an average rainfall of 100 mm to 300 mm.

According to the mm scale, low rainfall range from 0-100, average (100-300), high (300-500) and very high(over 500).
