SHAH ALAM, Feb 21 — Team Selangor volunteers have collected 799 kilogrammes (kg) of used cooking oil through its recycling programme held at seven locations in the state.

Its secretariat head Syahaizel Keman said the seven areas were Bandar Tasik Puteri, Bukit Beruntung, Ampang, Taman Medan, Hulu Bernam, Kajang and Kuang.

He said the four-month programme started on November 6, 2021, and ended yesterday.

“This programme will be continued to create awareness among the public on the importance of recycling used cooking oil to protect the environment.

“We hope this effort continues to receive good responses because there are many benefits that can be gained from recycling activities,” he said when contacted.

Yesterday, the volunteers collected 113 kg of used cooking oil from the public and traders around Kuang.

The programme was conducted with cooperation from Selayang Municipal Council and Kuang Pusat Wanita Berdaya (PWB).

“Kuang PWB also held a demonstration on making soap from used cooking oil. We hope this initiative can create awareness among the community on the importance of caring for the environment,” he said.
