Luas collaborates with five agencies to assure water resource quality

SHAH ALAM, March 29 — The Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the smart collaboration with five agencies to ensure raw water resources supplied to Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya is treated and in good quality.

The agencies include the Drainage and Irrigation Department, the Meteorology Department, the Environmental Department, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd and Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd.

The signing was witnessed by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Building’s foyer earlier today.

The partnership will also involve other aspects including management, monitoring and reservation of water resources, and data sharing in addition to being the main agenda of the World’s Water Day celebration in Selangor.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the MoU will help the state government to improve its control of water resources as well as ensuring continuous and quality raw water supply can be distributed to consumers.

“With the data sharing component, Luas can plan their itsaction, for example the plan to build the The Hybrid Off River Augmentation Storage (Horas) 600 or other projects to ensure consistent supply.

“This will also ensure a sustainability of life and water resources remain protected, clean and safe,” he said.
