MB: Slope deemed unsafe, Taman Bukit Permai 2 ordered to evacuate

SHAH ALAM, March 15 — The slope area at the landslide location in Taman Bukit Permai 2, Ampang has been deemed unsafe, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

According to a report from the Hulu Langat District Disaster Committee yesterday, minor soil movements were detected at the site which could affect tens of residences if landslides recur.

“Based on the study several minor movements were detected and further actions are being taken. In fact we have identified 72 homes which could be affected should there be a second or third round of landslide.

“Therefore the committee has ordered residents to evacuate their homes so as to avoid any untoward incidents,” he said when met during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly earlier today.

Amirudin added the immediate evacuation order will enable the execution of slope treatment to begin as soon as possible.

“We will carry out the slope treatment immediately even though we have yet to calculate the cost,” he said.

The landslide incident, which damaged 15 homes and 10 vehicles, occurred last week and claimed four lives while causing minor injury to one victim.

On March 11, Amirudin visited the area and handed over RM10,000 in immediate assistance to the victims’ families.
