PUCHONG, March 9 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will be offering vouchers worth RM10 worth to 1,000 customers who bring their food containers to Ramadan bazaars under its jurisdiction this year.
MBSJ mayor Datuk Johary Anuar said the voucher will be offered every Wednesday and it one of of the initiatives by the city council to reduce plastic usage.
“The vouchers can be redeemed at any of the participating stalls in the 16 Ramadan bazaars around Subang Jaya, with a condition that they must show their food containers.
“Each customer can enjoy a one-time benefit of purchasing foods and beverages using the vouchers throughout the fasting month,” he said, adding the voucher can be used a day after receiving it.
Meanwhile, Johary said the usage of polystyrene food containers and plastic straws remains prohibited so as to reduce pollution and to support green initiatives.
He said MBSJ will also provide a cooking oil recycling bin to promote the practice of recycling among small traders.
Approximately 764 traders have registered for the Ramadan bazaars under MBSJ this year, involving the Subang Jaya, Puchong, Kinrara, Serdang and Seri Kembangan zones.
