“Although it was set up in an industrial area, the ninth market in Petaling Jaya will ease the burden of residents around Sri Damansara, Damansara Perdana, Damansara Damai and Kota Damansara to find daily necessities,” he said at a press conference after officiating the market.

Therefore, Amirudin said the market design concept will be expanded according to the needs of the residents in the area.

“A few months ago, I officiated a public market in Sri Muda, Shah Alam and a hawker centre in Sabak Bernam. This is all part of a project planned by the Selangor government.

“However, planning for development such as this takes time because it involves land acquisition,” he said.

During the ceremony, he also visited the market as well as talked with the traders.
