SHAH ALAM, March 3 — The affordable daily goods sale programme for items including chicken, fish and eggs will be held at Sabak Bernam this Saturday, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
“The Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme will begin in Sabak Bernam on Saturday, which will sell quality daily necessities including chicken, fish, eggs at reasonable prices.
“64 locations are set to be the locations for the sales until Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said in a Facebook post earlier today.
Earlier on when officiating the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme at Balai Rakyat Taman Berjaya in Sabak Bernam, state executive councillor for agriculture Izham Hashim said the four daily necessities including chicken, eggs, beef and fish would be sold for affordable prices, starting on February 27 and leading up to Aidilfitri.
He added the programme, held on Saturday and Sunday, is carried out in cooperation with the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) and is a continuation of the Chicken and Egg Price Intervention programme launched by the Menteri Besar last month.
Izham said the authorities are targeting an estimated 10,000 chicken, 3,100 kg of fresh beef, 6,200kg mackerel and fly fish, as well as 315,000 Grade B chicken eggs to be sold throughout the programme.
He said they are also considering adding several more daily necessities to the list, including cooking oil, should the programme be met with strong reception.
