SHAH ALAM, March 27 — Some 70 women in the Sentosa state constituency participated in celebrations yesterday to mark International Women’s Day Wonderful Women of Sentosa (WOW)

Sentosa state assemblyman Dr G. Gunaraj said the programme was held as a gesture of appreciation for the accomplishments of the women who have helped out the constituency in various fields.

“We also celebrated a retired headmistress and a health expert who has done much to assist and participate in programmes organised by Sentosa all this while.

“To date WOW Sentosa has also assisted me in providing aid to over 500 needy persons since the Covid-19 pandemic began,” he told SelangorKini.

Also in attendance was Bukit Melawati state assemblyman Juwairiya Zulkifli, who commended the initiative implemented by the Sentosa state constituency for actively involving women in communal and political activities.

“May this effort continue and become an example for other women, we do not need to fear in going forward but instead prove that we can do so as well.

“I encourage and call upon women to participate more actively in communal and political activities…we need to prove women can also lead as men do and in line with the theme for International Women’s Day this year, Gender Equality Today For A Sustainable Tomorrow,” she said.
