SHAH ALAM, April 8 — The Selangor government is giving out shopping vouchers worth a total of RM3.34 million in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

State executive councillor for caring government V Ganabatirau said that the initiative would be disbursed to 33,400 heads of households in the low-income (B40) group in preparations for the festive season.

He said the RM100 vouchers would be distributed by the 56 state representatives beginning April 1 until the end of the month.

“This effort is to help ease the burden of those in need, especially in preparation to celebrate the festival.

“Those who are eligible would be informed by the community centres in the respective constituencies and the vouchers can be used at selected outlets,” he said after the Jalinan Ukhuwah programme at Mardhiyyah Hotel here, yesterday.

The Jom Shopping Raya initiative was introduced by the state administration to help the B40 group and is a long term effort to look out for the welfare and wellbeing of the people.

The aid is channelled during the different festive seasons celebrated by the various races in the state.
