SHAH ALAM, May 5 — Traffic flow in the state is expected to experience severe congestion starting this Friday, said Selangor Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief.

Thus, Superintendent Azman Shariat advised road users to drive safely and be considerate while driving.

“The increase in the number of vehicles has started today (May 4) but the traffic congestion is expected to start from Friday night until this Sunday.

“Road users are reminded not to use mobile phones while driving and stay in the left lane (when not overtaking) while on the highway,” he told Selangorkini yesterday.

Azman informed that as of May 3, Selangor recorded a decrease in accident cases during Op Selamat Raya 2022 compared to the same festive period in 2019.

“In 2019, a total of 2,110 accident cases were recorded, but this year there are only 1,943 cases, a decrease of 7.9 per cent.

“Similarly, for deaths and fatal accidents, each recorded a decrease of 31.3 per cent, or 11 cases this year compared to 16 in 2019,” he said.
