SHAH ALAM, May 23 — Premier League leader, Kelantan FC have chalked up their seventh victory in the Premier League this season by edging Selangor FC II 1-0 at UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam, here last night.
The charges of Rezal Zambery Yahya found their touch in the 61st minute after both sides failed to produce any goals in the first half despite several close attempts by Selangor II and Kelantan.
The solitary goal was netted from a long shot by Syed Sobri Syed Mohd after the ball was deflected from a free kick taken by captain Nurshamil Abd Ghani.
Feeling inspired, Kelantan started to threaten the hosts at the goalmouth and around the 70th minute, they succeeded in forcing three corner kicks.
But the agile goalkeeper of Selangor II Syahmi Adib Haikal Mohd Shukri thwarted all attempts for the second goal.
In their haste to find the finishing goal by Kelantan in extra time saw their player, Mohamad Ikhwan Yasek being shown the yellow card by referee Mohd Azizan Saat Ariffin for roughing up a Selangor II player.
The eighth outing for Kelantan ended 1-0 with three points for them in Shah Alam
