More than 90 pct Unisel graduates get hired in 2021

SHAH ALAM, May 13 — A total of 90.5 per cent of the 2,578 graduates from Universiti Selangor (Unisel) received placement in the job market last year.

Its president and vice-chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Mohammad Redzuan Othman, said graduates from the communication, visual art and computing faculties recorded the highest employment after graduation.

“This achievement is contributed by various initiatives that have been done, such as the merger of several faculties in 2016.

“There are two faculties in the Shah Alam campus, namely business and accounting as well as health science, while the other five faculties are located at the Bestari Jaya main campus,” he said when delivering his speech during the launch of the Selangor Mega Job Fair and the selangorjobportal.com.my, here yesterday.

The event was launched by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Redzuan said Unisel always strive to produce creative and critical thinking students to prepare them before facing the challenges in the workforce.

“For example, when most of the final examinations are conducted using the open book method, it indirectly allows the students to explore creative thinking instead of memorising the answer,” he said.

Mohammad Redzuan also welcomes corporate organisations and industry players to collaborate with the varsity in providing opportunities for the students to gain some experience before entering the job market.
