Amirudin calls for focus on GE15 after winning PKR VP post

By Norrasyidah Arshad

GOMBAK, June 1 — Newly-elected Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice president Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has urged the party leadership to focus on the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

Foreseeing the upcoming election to be more challenging than the previous polls in 2018, the Selangor Menteri Besar said that all parties, including the Pakatan Harapan (PH) pact, must work hard to win the people’s mandate.

“Our direction is clear, and we need to focus more on GE15. I seek cooperation from all parties, including those who had lost (in the party polls), as this would determine the (country’s) administration.

Even those who had lost have their strengths, and we need to show them support as they too have their grounds in the grassroots,” he said when met during the Sungai Tua Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here, last night.

In the recent PKR party election for the 2022/2025 term, Amirudin, who is the Selangor state leadership council chairman, had led the contest for the vice president post, overtaking his closest contender Chang Lih King.

The unofficial results show that Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad is in third place followed by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminudin Harun.

Amirudin had also defended his Gombak division chief post after defeating former Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.
