PKNS aims to build 10,000 affordable housing units within 15 years

By Zareef Muzammil

KAJANG, June 29 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is targeting to construct some 10,000 units of affordable housing in the next 15 years around the vicinity of new townships throughout the state.

Its senior general manager of administration Saharom Mohni said there are 10 development projects involving four types of residences with an offering price starting from RM42,000 to RM220,000, such as Rumah Selangorku.

He said up to 864 residential units have been completed in Selangor Cyber Valley, Cyberjaya, with the keys handed over to the buyers.

“The remainder currently in the planning permission process are situated in Tasik Puteri, Bernam Jaya, Antara Gapi and Shah Alam,” Saharom said during the press conference following a visit from a delegation of 20 Indonesian media practitioners at Pangsapuri Sri Ayu in Bandar Baru Bangi earlier today.

He guaranteed that the construction of the affordable houses will be completed in the set time.

“We are tied to the state government, so when the matter is discussed in the Selangor Legislative Assembly, we must comply with the schedule whether we want to or otherwise.

Rumah Selangorku 2.0 was introduced in April 2018 to improve the affordable housing policy, with a focus on the aspects of ownership, planning and implementation, so as to benefit both the developer, policy implementers and homeowners.

The state government has set conditions and controls for housing development to ensure the provision of cost-free and controlled housing in Selangor can be offered to the people.
