Plats to see 20,000 traders on board by April next year

HULU LANGAT, June 20 — The Selangor Platform (Plats) is anticipating a total of 20,000 small-sized traders to be on board by April next year.

Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB) chief executive officer Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim said the target could be achieved after working with various agencies, especially the local authorities.

“Local governments are actively involved in tracking and registering traders who seek to develop their businesses, as well as assisting them in obtaining the necessary business licences.

“A series of special training and digital education programmes have also been developed by the local governments to provide the traders with more exposure,” said Raja Ahmad Shahrir when met at the launch of the Selangor Penyayang roadshow (JSP) here yesterday.

He said that as of May, 10,116 traders from across Selangor had engaged in Plats and received coaching, particularly on product marketing.

Following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Plats was introduced during Ramadan two years ago to complete the Selangor Digitalisation Agenda ecosystem through a digital platform.

Plats 2.0 was launched on April 11 of last year to assist traders in generating income throughout the year and not only during the fasting month.

The third series, Plats 3.0, a virtual platform, was continued in April this year, with the collaboration with the Selangor Digital Partner (Rakan Digital Selangor or RDS).
