Exco advocates penalising developers who fail to complete Rumah SelangorKu homes on time

SHAH ALAM, July 26 — A new charge or penalty must be imposed on developers who failed to complete the Rumah SelangorKu project construction, despite obtaining approval.

State executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail said there is a need to enforce the law to ensure people in Selangor will be able to own a house of their own.

“There are developers that have already received approval but yet to start the construction process. This might affect the houses’ stock, hence we should impose a new charge on them.

“I think it is about time for the state government to introduce a new condition because there are housing projects that were approved 10 to 20 years ago, yet no construction work has begun.

“Therefore, we must carry out the enforcement,” she said when answering a question from Sungai Panjang state assemblyman Datuk Imran Tamrin on Rumah SelangorKu during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, here today.

A total of 24,428 Rumah SelangorKu houses have been completed and handed over to the buyers from 2018 until November 15, 2021. The most completed units are Type C houses at 9,294, followed by Type D (7,822), Type B (4,122), Type A (2,019), and Type E (1,171).
