Kota Anggerik rep hopes MBSA flood action plan is coordinated with RS-1

SHAH ALAM, July 30 — The flood action plan presented by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will hopefully be implemented in line with the master plan outlined in the First Selangor Plan (RS-1), said Kota Anggerik state assemblyman Najwan Halimi.

He said the matter would ensure the implementation of a truly effective flood mitigation project, and not a half-hearted attempt.

“I note MBSA’s presented flood action plan is responsive and proactive, in line with the state government’s plan under RS-1.

“As such, I hope the Shah Alam Flood Action Plan will be carried out in line with RS-1’s master plan,” Najwan said when discussing the RS-1 motion at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session yesterday.

He similarly praised MBSA’s initiative, which contains proactive steps to deal with large floods and involves an allocation of almost RM160 million.

“I am thankful that in less than half a year from the date of the major floods in Selangor, MBSA came up with the best move with the announcement of the Shah Alam Flood Action Plan (SASuD).

“I understand the plan includes three phases which are short, medium and long-term, with a focus on high-risk areas like Taman Sri Muda, Section 13 and TTDI Jaya,” Najwan said.

On Wednesday (July 27), Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari presented RS-1 which is Selangor’s five-years development framework, with a total value of RM212.44 billion.

He said a total of RM92.44 billion will be channelled to state-level development projects, including the implementation of several incentives, to ensure the people’ welfare.

Amirudin explained the state government will release RM7.16 billion in funds, whereas the excess RM80 billion in balance will be financed by subsidiaries and the private sector.
