Selangor allocates almost RM12 mln yearly to restore multi-storey housing

SEPANG, July 22 — The state government ensures that nearly RM12 million is set aside every year for the restoration of damaged facilities in strata housing, said state executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail.

She said the aim is to upgrade five multi-storey housing localities per year.

“We are renovating community spaces in the hope that residents can better socialise with one another, and we want to see maximised usage of the latest technology like solar systems.

“The state government maintains a budget to benefit derelict areas. There are many repair categories including roof repairs, water tanks and gardening maintenance,” Rodziah said.

She was speaking at the inauguration of the Selangor Livable City Physical Project (SDG 11) at Pangsapuri Ruvena Villa earlier today. Also in attendance was Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) president Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain.

Rodziah added the council managed to complete the upgrading project for the apartment in four months, with a RM140,000 allocation.

“Alhamdulillah, MPSepang has fulfilled its responsibility in carrying out upgrades to one of the five localities which were approved by the Selangor government.

“This cooperation is between the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) and PLANMalaysia Selangor, which will ensure we add value to the appropriate areas,” she said.

Pangsapuri Ruvena Villa encompasses 22 five-storey residential blocks housing some 900 units with an estimated 3,500 households.

The improvements carried out by MPSepang include the children’s playground equipment, the exercise area, pool, waqf, the reflexology site as well as the installation of solar lighting facilities and signage.
