Chief Registrar’s Office lodges police report over leaked draft of Najib’s judgment

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 — The Chief Registrar’s Office of the Federal Court has lodged a police report regarding the draft copy of Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s SRC International case appeal written judgment, which was leaked.

In a statement issued today, the office referred to a report published in the Malaysia Today portal today titled “Najib’s Razak SRC Appeal: The Judgement”, which contained a working draft of the judgment as well as leaked documents that had been modified.

“An internal investigation has begun and this office confirms that the document was a working draft that had not been finalised.

“The final judgment was only delivered in open court at about 4 pm today,” the statement added.

It said the leak was a deliberate act to jeopardise the integrity of the court’s operations and the administration of justice.

“The judiciary will not be affected by illegal acts aimed at disturbing the integrity of the country’s justice system,” according to the office.

Earlier, the Federal Court upheld Najib’s conviction and his 12-year jail sentence and RM210 million fine for misappropriating RM42 million of SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.
