Continuous heavy rain in Klang Valley until tomorrow morning

SHAH ALAM, Aug 27 — The strong weather earlier predicted for Klang Valley continues, as the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) forecasted heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya until 1am tomorrow (August 28) morning.

In a statement issued at 8.45pm, it said other states that are also affected included Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak and Melaka.

The agency also expected similar weather condition in several areas within the states of Kelantan (Jeli and Tanah Merah), Terengganu (Kuala Terengganu), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Jempol), Johor (Tangkak, Muar and Batu Pahat), Sarawak: Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Bintulu (Sebauh) and Miri (Subis, Beluru and Telang Usan), and Sabah: Pantai Barat (Putatan, Penampang and Ranau) and Sandakan (Telupid).

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
