Raja Muda insists no ‘parasites’ in Selangor FC, calls upon supporters to unite

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, Aug 30 — His Highness the Raja Muda of Selangor has stressed and guaranteed there have never been any parasites in the Selangor Football Club’s (FC) team management.

Tengku Amir Shah, in his capacity as chairman of Selangor FC, said he is aware the team’s performance has been lacklustre of late, to which the management is currently attempting to identify any shortcomings that need to be rectified.

“I acknowledge we have yet to achieve success on the field, but I will not give up and instead remain committed to taking the club to its highest level.

“I have also managed to realise various renewals and achievements concerning administration, financial management, football development, facilities and commercialisation.

“As such, I call on all Selangor supporters to remain united and resist from turn away as such, due to the influence of inaccurate external elements that seek to divide us,” His Highness said in a statement today.

Tengku Amir also confirmed he approved former Selangor Football Association (FAS) vice president Izhar Muslim’s resignation letter on July 7, adding that Izhar is no longer involved with the Red Giants’ management, directly or indirectly.

“I wish to take the opportunity and extend many thanks to Izhar Muslim, for all his contributions and sacrifices throughout his time at the club.

“To inform everybody, Izhar Muslim held the position of vice president of FAS from 2018 to 2019, and I appointed him as a member of Selangor FC’s board of directors when it became privatised and established in 2020,” His Highness said.

The Red Giants have come under criticism for a lack of encouraging action in the Super League competition, as it occupies ninth place and collected 16 points after 15 matches.

This was followed by allegations from certain quarters of ‘parasites’ in Selangor FC’s management, claiming that Izhar was a cause of the team’s inconsistent performance.
