KDEBWM: Report clogged drains via WhatsApp

SHAH ALAM, Sept 19 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has urged the public to report clogged drains through the WhatsApp application at 019-274 2824.

The state agency said that this will contribute to ensuring drainage system maintenance ahead of the floods in November as forecasted by the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

“We would also encourage the general public to take immediate action by cleaning the drains in their local residential neighbourhoods in order to improve the flow.

“If there is a significant amount of trash in the drain, it will get blocked and the flooding’s rapid water flow would on worsen the situation,” the agency said on Facebook.

The following are several preventive actions that can be taken by the public to curb clogged drains:

  • Ensure sure there isn’t a pile of trash in the drain
  • Avoiding connecting pipes to drains
  • Check to see if the drain is blocked
  • Keep bulk trash away from open drains
