MBI distributes RM400,000 to aid flood victims in Selangor this year

SABAK BERNAM, Sept 14 — A total of RM400,000 has been distributed by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI to help flood victims throughout the state this year.

Its Corporate Social Responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the amount involved cash aid to the victims and does not include other assistance such as basic food supply, clothing as well as various other basic needs.

“We have allocated RM1.5 million to help disaster victims and of that amount, RM400,000 is for flood victims.

“So far about 2,000 flood victims have received the cash aid. This is part of MBI’s commitments to help and ease the burden of disaster victims,” he ​​said.

He was speaking at the special disaster aid presentation ceremony for flood victims in the Sekinchan state constituency at Dewan Seri Sekinchan, here.

Ahmad Azri said they will continue assisting other flood victims with the upcoming programme to be held in Kuala Kubu Bharu involving 40 people.

MBI, a state government subsidiary, has carried out various CSR activities this year, including distributing sacrificial meat for Hari Raya Haji and the people’s tuition programme, among others.

Last year it spent RM28 million to carry out welfare programs and initiatives aimed at combatting Covid-19.

The corporation also distributed RM2.8 million to assist flood victims and donations to Tabung Ikhtiar Selangor Bangkit.
