MetMalaysia: Seven Selangor districts to be affected by strong weather

SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — Heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds are to be expected in most parts of the Klang Valley this afternoon, with seven districts in Selangor affected.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the districts in Selangor include Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, and Sepang.

“Heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds are also predicted in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya,” it said in a statement issued at 1.15pm.

Other affected state and areas include Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Jempol).

The strong weather is expected to last until 4pm this afternoon.

“Warnings are issued whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur in excess of an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release,” it said.
