Nearly 1,000 join in MPHS’ bicycle racing competition

SHAH ALAM, Sept 26 — Some 800 participants both local and foreign participated in a 40-kilometre bicycle race yesterday, which stretched from Kuala Kubu Bharu to Bukit Fraser.

The Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) said the Hulu Selangor King of Mountain 2022 programme is a rebranding of the Kayuhan Raja Bukit competition, last held in 2019.

The competition’s three participation categories include road bike with 656 participants, mountain bike with 120 participants, and folding bike with 24 participants.

MPHS president Mohd Hasry Nor Mohd said the competition will be an annual activity henceforth, as the number of participants has been encouraging, particularly from among cycling enthusiasts.

“The competition can also indirectly attract foreign tourists and enable them to experience a green Hulu Selangor,” he said in a Facebook post on the council’s official page.

The King of the Mountain title was won by Mohd Abd Hamid at 19 minutes and 34 seconds, while the Queen of the Mountain title went to Ju Pha Som Net at 23 minutes and two seconds.
