PKPS expands economic alleviation programme for apartment residents — Exco

SHAH ALAM, Sept 12 — The Selangor Urban Community Economic Mobilisation Programme (Mekar) will be expanded, with help from the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), said the state executive councillor for urban welfare Rodziah Ismail.

She said a meeting will be held next week to discuss the collaboration, with the relevant announcement to be made in the nearest future.

“It is clear the PKPS affordable sales programme launched by the Menteri Besar has been met with very encouraging responses.

“As such, we will work with PKPS so they can deliver supplies like chicken, eggs, cooking oil, and so on to wherever Mekar is being held,” Rodziah said at the Selangor State Secretariat Building earlier today.

She added the Mekar programme, which was implemented by the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) and Koperasi Warga Hijrah Selangor Berhad, received positive feedback from residents since its launch in April.

Earlier on, four apartment localities were selected to carry out the Mekar pilot project, which aims to assist low-income groups.

Via the programme, a kiosk or mini market is set up which will sell a variety of basic necessities at low prices, easing the populace’s economic burdens.

The apartments involved in the the Mekar pilot project include Pangsapuri Kos Rendah Taman Dato’ Hormat in Sijangkang, Pangsapuri Kos Rendah Taman Raja Uda in Pandamaran, Pangsapuri Rimau Indah in Kota Kemuning, and Perbadanan Pengurusan Anggerik 26 in Batu 3.
