Port Klang ditches cleared up in preparations for Northeast Monsoon

SHAH ALAM, Sept 20 — The Klang Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) has dug up five ditches around Port Klang, as part of the preparations for the anticipated Northeast Monsoon and high-tide phenomenon.

Port Klang state assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri said the works were carried out in Kampung Teluk Nipah at Pulau Indah, along Jalan Ikan Parang and Jalan Udang Gertak, along Jalan Ikan Tenggiri and Udang Tampang, as well as along Jalan Ikan Yu and Jalan Tali Air and Telok Gong.

“The Klang district DID has been asked to clean and review the drainage system in areas that face flooding risks, particularly in Kampung Tradisi Pulau Indah and Kampung Telok Gong in Port Klang, in order to mitigate these risks.

“Subsequently, DID stated they will carry out the re-digging of ditches and related works in the area,” he said in a Facebook post.

Azmizam added that based on forecasts, the high-tide phenomenon is expected to record a height of 5.3 metres at approximately 6.52am next Tuesday (September 27), followed by 5.4 metres at approximately 7.53am the following day, and 5.3 metres at approximately 6.42am next Thursday (September 29)
