PETALING JAYA, Sept 24 — Two areas in the Seri Setia state constituency have been identified as high-risk areas for major floods which are expected to occur at end of the year.

Its representative Halimey Abu Bakar said they are working with several agencies to monitor the situation in the areas from time to time, especially on the drainage system.

“In TTDI Jaya, we have set up a special committee as well as taking inputs from experts who are residents there, which includes former directors of the Works Department and the Drainage and Irrigation Department.

“Meanwhile in Taman Mesra, we have taken steps to ensure its four to six water pumps are functioning and working properly. The pumps are being maintained by Shah Alam City Council (MBSA),” he said after handing over incentives to Muassasah Haj pilgrims here today.

The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) has reported that eight of Selangor’s nine districts are identified as flood hotspots.

The Department of Irrigation and Drainage stated the districts include Klang, Petaling, Gombak, Hulu Langat, Sepang, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam, and Kuala Selangor. Only Hulu Selangor is not listed as a flood hotspot.

Following that the state government announced that it will conduct flood disaster simulation training for two days starting next week and provide special allocation to acquire more assets such as boats, machinery and personnel.
