SHAH ALAM, Sept 28 — A total of 4,698 special needs children in Selangor benefitted from the Anak Istimewa Selangor (Anis) programme last year.

Its department head Danial Al-Rashid Haron said the assistance and benefits were channelled from a total fund of RM3 million from the state government.

“The figures include 692 recipients for Anis assistance, 2,700 participants for the Akademi Anis training, 26 students at the Anis Centre, assistance for persons with disabilities (OKU) involving 1,200 recipients and 80 centres that received help under the Didik Anis initiative.

“We also received over 14,000 users on Anis website last year,” he said in a media briefing in conjunction with the launch of the Independent Living Support Centre (ILSC) programme at De Palma Hotel, here today.

The state government has continued to address the OKU children’s welfare through various programmes under Anis since four years ago.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had informed that RM3 million would be allocated for Anis to run various initiatives this year.

He said among the initiatives include setting up the Anis Academy besides providing financial assistance to empower the Didik Anis programme.
