SHAH ALAM, Sept 17 — Selangor has marked its fourth gold medal in the 20th Malaysian Games (Sukma) today, which was obtained by pétanque athlete Ayzek Hakimi Safingan in the men shooting event.
Taking place at the Arena Petanque in Kuala Lumpur, the silver medal for the event was won by Melaka athlete Khairul Amirul Zamrul Hisham, while the bronze went to the Federal Territory’s Muhammad Syahmi Mohamad.
Earlier that day, archery athlete Muhammad Aliff Aiman Mohd Hassri contributed the state’s third gold medal in the compound 50 meter event, at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.
Yesterday saw Selangor win gold in the under-75 kg men’s individual category kumite event, through M. Gogulnath. The state’s first gold medal was achieved by wushu athlete Mandy Cebelle Chen the day before.
Selangor is aiming for 40 gold and silver medals respectively, as well as 45 bronze medals for the current edition of the games, which runs from September 16 to September 24.
Approximately 490 athletes and 75 trainers will take part in 30 types of sports.
