PKPS affordable sales help housewives save on weekly expenses

SABAK BERNAM, Oct 15 — The affordable sale Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat organised by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) has helped housewives to save on their weekly expenses.

Eng Kai Lin, 32, said she only needed to pay RM40 for chicken, eggs and cooking oil.

“Usually if I buy such items from the grocery store, it would cost me more than what I get here. Indeed, this programme offers items at a lower price compared to other shops.

“Hopefully, such a programme could be continued as it helps those from the low-income group,” she said when met at the programme, here yesterday.

Meanwhile, small trader Norini Johrani, 57, said she looks forward to the series of the affordable sales as it is easier to get food supply at the event.

“This is my fifth time participating in this programme. The price offered here is cheaper than in other places aside from the goods being in fresh condition and of high quality.

“It is easier to get eggs compared to buying at sundry shops or supermarkets. This effort has helped us in getting our daily food items easily,” she said.

The Jualan Ehsan Rakyat makes its stop at the Sabak Bernam districts for two days, beginning yesterday until today.

A total of 2,000 chickens are available throughout the programme, aside from 1,200 trays of eggs, 5 kilogrammes (kg) of rice and 5kg of cooking oil.
