SHAH ALAM, Oct 18 — Some RM9 million of funds have been channelled to upgrade infrastructure facilities at 143 Chinese vernacular schools throughout Selangor for this year.

State executive councillor for tourism and environment Hee Loy Sian said the figure comprises 113 Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC), 26 Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina and missionary schools, as well as four private Chinese secondary schools.

“Through the Selangor School Aid scheme initiative, we aim to provide optimal comfort and a more conducive learning environment for students.

“The school aid scheme will be offered again next year and those interested can submit their application online. The aid will be distributed evenly,” he said in his speech during the handover ceremony at the Selangor State Secretariat Building.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced in May a total of RM26.5 million will be allocated for infrastructure upgrading works for primary and secondary schools in Selangor.

The donation is specifically aimed at schools that did not receive full assistance from the Federal government including religious schools, SJKC, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil, and missionary schools.
