KLANG, Oct 28 — Selangor’s revenue has reached RM2.17 billion, surpassing its initial target of RM2.05 billion, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He is optimistic the revenue collection will hit RM2.2 billion by the end of the year.

“When the Movement Control Order was enforced in 2020 and 2021, Selangor managed to record a surplus. It is same with this year where we managed to record higher revenues.

“For 2022, the state government’s target was RM2.05 billion, however in the remaining two months this figure could change due to last-minute payments.

“As of yesterday, we have recorded RM2.17 billion in revenue, a commendable achievement. Should we manage to secure RM2.2 billion, we will have an excess of RM200 million from the online system and payments,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking at the launching of the Smartbox System expansion, at the Klang District and Land Office earlier today.

Amirudin added the state government will adopt the digital system in its administrative management.

“For the upcoming state budget, one of the agendas is to ensure the digital transformation in payment and administration management.

“Not only will this help to streamline data, but it will also increase trust in the public governance system, as well as improve our revenues,” he said.
