Stormy weather to hit Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor this evening

SHAH ALAM, Oct 23 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a strong weather warning in Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor until 7pm today.

In a warning issued at 4.05pm, it said thunderstorms, heavy rain and and strong winds are also expected to occur in Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Pahang (Cameron Highlands) and Negeri Sembilan (Port Dickson and Rembau).

“The similar weather pattern is also anticipated in Melaka (Alor Gajah and Melaka Tengah),  Sarawak (Betong, Sarikei, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang) and Sabah (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan) and Kudat,” the agency said. 

The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 millimeters (mm) that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
