SHAH ALAM, Nov 2 — Selangor government has opened a contra route at Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari since Monday (October 31) to overcome the severe congestion in the area.
State executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim said the route has begun operating from 4pm to facilitate road users.
“This is one of many immediate steps taken by the state government to ensure the smooth travel of over 100,000 residents.
“Road users are advised to follow the traffic signages that have been installed in the area,” he said when contacted.
Concurrently, Izham informed that he will submit a proposal in regard to the paving of new lanes on the same street in the Selangor State Executive Council meeting next month.
“The addition of this road involves two phases with an allocation cost of RM35 million.
“After getting approval, construction is expected to start no later than January next year,” he said.
On October 27, Izham, who inspected the road conditions in the area, informed that the state government together with the Public Works Department (JKR) will be adding three new vehicle lanes to overcome the severe congestion on Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari.
He added that JKR will generate a detailed technical report on building the additional lane.
