Community leaders’ allowances to increase next year, in line with minimum wage — MB

SHAH ALAM, Nov 3 — The state government will increase the allowance of community leaders next year, above the minimum wage rate, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He informed over 1,000 community leaders of the matter, during the joint mandate ceremony at Dewan Raja Muda Musa in Section 7, earlier today.

InsyaAllah, next year we will ensure the increase is good, including making sure the allowances of Village Community Management Councils and Indian community leaders are on the same level. At least above the minimum wage level,” Amirudin said.

The remarks were met with enthusiastic support and applause from the gathered community leaders in the hall.

“My message is clear; please work throughout as a team, because in Selangor we belong to Pakatan Harapan (PH),” he said.

The government began enforcing the RM1,500 minimum wage beginning on May 1, after an in-depth study.

Amirudin emphasised the State Government provides up to RM3,600 in cash annually to help poor families, via Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas).

“We used to provide RM200 monthly under Kasih Ibu Smart Selangor, now it is RM300. So it is incorrect to say we lowered the amount.

“Rather, we restructured it as we know the focus is to help solve the people’s problems,” he said.

The Menteri Besar added that seniors aged 60 and above will receive a RM100 shopping voucher every year during their lifetime, alongside RM500 in death benefits.

Yesterday, Amirudin said Selangor’s policies will be implemented if PH should manage to win the Federal administration in the upcoming 15th general election.

Its initiatives include Skim Mesra Usia Emas, Rumah Idaman, Rumah Selangorku Harapan, and Skim Insurans Am Selangor (Insan).
