SHAH ALAM, Nov 22 — 300 students from low-income families in the Permatang constituency will receive a RM100 Back to School assistance next year.

Its state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin said the donation of RM30,000 from the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI would be distributed in stages beginning in January.

“We have received all applications and are currently in the reviewing process to ensure the assistance will be given to those (who are) genuinely in need.

“At the same time, the community service centre would also distribute stationeries to the students from poor families,” she said when contacted by SelangorKini today.

Beginning early this month, applications for the assistance programme have been opened in 56 constituencies to help low-income families prepare for their children’s school needs.

MBI Corporate Social Responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor informed that the applicant’s income limit is below RM4,000 compared to RM2,500 previously.
