MB visits senior citizens as recipients express gratitude for aid

GOMBAK, Nov 2 — Six senior citizens in Gombak have been provided with cash assistance and basic necessities from the state government.

The assistance was presented by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and is meant to ease the recipients’ burden through the compassionate visiting programme.

He advised the recipients and their families to apply for the Skim Insurans Am Selangor (Insan) scheme as prepared by the state government, in order to safeguard their future welfare.

“Today I met several old friends who are also Gombak residents, some are elderly and were widowed several months ago.

“As such, we took the opportunity to visit them and provide words of consolation and encouragement. Hopefully, this small donation can ease their burden,” he told SelangorKini yesterday.

One recipient, Norhayati Muhamad, 53, said she is grateful for the assistance and that she will purchase a wheelchair for her 67-year-old husband Mat Zuki Husin, who experienced a stroke seven years prior.

Alhamdulillah, I am most thankful for this aid. I plan to buy a wheelchair for my husband, so it is easier for him to move around.

“We thank Dato’ Menteri Besar Amirudin, it was also touching to have received his visit today,” she said.

Puteri Rahmi Ruwaida Khairul Anuar, 40, also praised Amirudin for his concern, as the Menteri Besar frequently visits her mother Raja Noraini Raja Mohamed, 64, who similarly suffered from a stroke.

“Thank you for remembering my mother. InsyaAllah , we will use this help to buy the necessary supplies for her like food and medication,” she said.
