SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 — A total of 903 flood victims from 217 families have been evacuated to several temporary relief centres (PPS) in the state, as of 8am today.
According to the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), eight areas in Klang and Kuala Selangor are being affected by the floods.
In a Facebook post the agency said the residents of Meru, Klang consisted of one of the highest number of evacuees being transferred to the SK Sungai Binjai PPS, involving 643 victims from 152 families.
Other PPS’ that have been opened include those at Masjid Al-Falah Kampung Budiman, SK Johan Setia, and Sekolah Rendah Agama Pekan Meru.
Meanwhile, in Kuala Selangor, the PPS’ include the ones at Dewan MBKS Seri Harmoni in Ijok, Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Raja Musa, SK Sungai Sireh, and SMK Jeram.
In a related development, the water levels at Sungai Selangor in Kuala Selangor and Sungai Bernam have reached dangerous levels at 7.8 metres and 2.3 metres, respectively. The water levels in both rivers continues to rise.
While for Sungai Binjai, Meru, the water level stands at a dangerous level of 4.2 metres, however, it has begun to recede.
Similarly, Sungai Bernam in Hulu Selangor, Sungai Langat (Bukit Changgang), Sungai Manggis, and Sungai Buloh in Parit Mahang are among Selangor’s rivers that have also reached warning levels.
